It’s Time for a Sew Along – Irish Chain Wedding Quilt

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be making videos as I create a one-of-a-kind wedding gift. I was commissioned to make a king size quilt and the fabric the client wanted is a gorgeous succulent pattern. It’s filled with beautiful, bold colours and the coordinating fabrics really help pull some of the colours out.

Why an Irish Chain?

Technically, we’ll be working on a Double Irish Chain because I need to be able to use both coordinating colours. We picked it because, although the succulent fabric is beautiful, traditional patterns for wedding gifts call for the larger background fabric to be monochromatic. For sure we see some that aren’t, but that’s the most common thing we see. That being said, those traditional patterns wouldn’t highlight this fabric. While thinking about it, an Irish Chain pattern came to mind, using the succulent fabric for the background and the two others, the burgundy and teal, as the details.

Here is the first video, introducing you to the fabric and the pattern.

Stay tuned for Part 2!
