My Quilt Is in a Magazine!

A few weeks ago, the Canadian Quilters Association, which publishes the magazine, Canadian Quilter, put out a call for quilts with inspirational words on them. They were doing a feature in the spring issue. I thought right away of my quilt, healing. The message mentioned how to submit photos and that we would only hear back if our quilt was be chosen for the publication. Ten minutes or so later, I had a response.

Will Fear of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Cancel Some Quilt Shows?

You can’t turn on the news these days without seeing news of the novel coronavirus, COVID-19. Some quilters have mentioned that they are concerned about upcoming quilt shows and if the virus outbreak will affect them. Many large conferences, even health-related ones, have been cancelled. Should we be concerned that the virus will affect quilting activities as well? (update on March 14, 2020: Most gatherings have been cancelled as per group choice, or state or provincial directives)

From what I’ve heard over the years, many new and even intermediate quilters have no idea how they are going to quilt their quilt tops. “Quilt as desired,” which is what many patterns say, strikes fear into many a new quilter’s heart.
